Nutritional Pro comes pre-loaded with over 12,000 standard ingredients. The information source is the UK Government through Public Health England (COFIDS) and The United States Department of g Agriculture (USDA). The software also provides the ability to create new user ingredients with a simple wizard. For each ingredient contained within the database it is possible to create over 250 pieces of information, although in general most people are only interested in the Main 8. We have only ever known one customer, a hospital, that was interested in the individual break down of fatty acids in their recipes, the information is available for anyone that needs that level of detail.

Allergens, the program allows you to tag ingredients with their allergens. Once tagged when the ingredient is used in a recipe the allergens will be shown. The allergen library has the 14 most common allergens listed as standard however a little know feature within Nutritional Pro is that you own can create new allergen categories, for instance you wanted to identify specific nuts rather than nuts in general.

The search function is easy to use, simply tick the library or libraries in which you wish to search and start typing, once you have typed the first three characters the program will start to filter the results. This making in quicker to use than having to type the full ingredient name to find it.

Nutritional Pro has an extensive list of ingredients but it is almost guaranteed that the one special ingredient that you use is not in the database, so we provide a quick and easy wizard for creating new ingredients. The wizard defaults to creating the main 8 but by unticking a simple box the program will reveal an extended list of over 250 nutrients that can be recorded. The wizard will automatically ask for the allergen information after a new ingredient is created.

Detailed Nutritional Information. Look at the nutritional values for a specific ingredient, they can be filtered to show the main 8, Vitamins or all nutrients.
Compound Ingredients List. Enter the list of ingredients in a compound ingredient to keep track of all the ingredients that are in bought in pre-prepared ingredients.
Ingredients Comparison. Shows a side-by-side comparison of the ingredients in the current view, great for deciding which is the better ingredient to use

Nutritional Pro provides an easy way to compile and review recipes. A wealth of information is available on a single screen.

The recipe makeup and ingredients list, percentages and even cost per kg
Batch weight and portion size, allows you to create a large batch but report on a smaller individual product weight
Cooking loss, enter the cooking loss as a percentage will adjust the nutritional values and also the costing
Comments field
Recipe lock, prevents changes whilst still allowing the viewing of the information
Suitability, allows you to identify vegetarian or other parameters from an user defined editable list
Photograph
Cost, if you tag with ingredients the program with their cost the program will calculate the recipe cost per kg and the portion cost adjusting for the cooking loss. When you adjust the ingredient costs the recipe cost will be amended.

Cooking Loss can be entered as a percentage or by adjusting the finished weight which will back calculate the cooking loss
Portion size, the portion size can be entered as weigh or a number of portions that you achieved from the entered recipe for example 12 portions of a cake
Cost, the program will calculate the cost per kg and portion considering any cooking loss.
Suitability, the recipe can be tagged with its suitability. The list of suitability categories are editable and new ones can be created

As soon as a recipe is completed it is possible to look at all the nutritional information, the individual nutrients, allergens, the reference values etc. You can even query individual nutrients with the drill down feature to see the levels that each ingredient in the recipe contributes. This feature is used a lot by development departments when trying to manage salt and saturate levels, they can see the ingredients that are contributing the most to the overall total

The most used feature is the packet label report which gives a representation of the information that would normally appear on a packet label
